During the 2018-2019 school year, the CIS Full Day Kindergarten Programme (FDK) amalgamated the former separate Junior and Senior Kindergarten Porgrammes to meet the learning expectations of FDK model:
Children in the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten program are expected to demonstrate achievement of the overall expectations for each of the six areas of learning by the end of two years in the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten program. Since children entering the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten program vary in their levels of development and previous learning experiences, it is likely that they will demonstrate a considerable range of achievement as they progress towards meeting the overall expectations by the end of the program separately.
The CIS Kindergarten Programme continues to grow at CIS and this year has four distinct classes. The class size for the FDK Programme is 17 students assigned to two teachers: one Canadian and one Vietnamese. We continue to invest in a wide variety of resources for these our youngest learners. This year new outdoor playground equipment was purchased for the Kindergarten Programme.
