Staff Development Sessions for CISS Vietnamese Teachers

From July 26 to July 29, about 90 Vietnamese teachers from CIS, BCIS, AES are working with a Staff Development Team from the Toronto District School Board. All of the staff development sessions were driven through the Ontario School Effectiveness Framework, which puts students at the center of all teachers’ work.

This year’s Toronto District School Board Professional Learning Team includes: Ms Bonnie Macdonald - Learning Coach for Continuing Education, charged with the International Certificate Program for secondary students and writing the curriculum for International Languages for Elementary students; Ms Rosalie Griffith - newly appointed secondary TDSB Vice Principal; Ms Laura Inglis - Teaching & Learning Coach for K-8 teachers, curriculum writer for Scholastic Education Canada (publisher), TVO online gaming consultant and Ms Freda Liu, Current Roles include Elementary Lead Teacher, President of the Scarborough Association for Mathematics Education, Instructor for Additional Qualifications Courses for Teacher Education.

With the theme “Learning Together”, the training programme focused on learning from each other and reflecting on professional practice and future development. The TDSB team modeled a variety of teaching strategies. Most importantly, these allocated days afforded teachers time to work together.
