COVID-19 Communique on March 13

To our CISS Community,

We were informed by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee 888/ UBND-VX that schools across the city will remain closed and will re-open for all students on Monday, April 6, 2020. The People’s Committee continues to work closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Health to monitor the situation, and with the Ministry of Education and Training to adjust the Vietnamese school year calendar.

At this time, the dates for the Grade 12 Vietnamese National Examinations for AES and BCIS Grade 12 students have not been confirmed.

At CISS Schools Canadian and International Teachers end their contracts as per the published 2019 - 2020 school year calendar. The last day of school for CIS remains Wednesday, June 10th. The last day for BCIS International Teachers remains June 5th.

At BCIS Grades 1 - 12  and at CIS Kindergarten - Grade 11, on-line learning continues through to and including Friday, March 27. There will be no on-line instruction at CIS Monday, March 30 to  Friday, April 3. This will replace the CIS Spring Break previously scheduled for April 27 until April 29. BCIS on-line learning continues until Wednesday, April 1 but not on Thursday and Friday, April 2 and April 3.

As of March 13th, the Ontario government closed all schools for the coming March Break, March 16 - 20 and for the following two weeks, March 23 to April 2 inclusive. We are waiting confirmation from the Toronto District School Board about instruction in eLearning courses for our Grade 12 OSSD students.

These/our plans are subject to change according to directives from the People's Committee. Across both BCIS and CIS, our staff and our students are working hard to meet this challenge as all of us live and learn the realities of global citizenship.

Take care of yourselves and your families and continue to wash your hands!

Best regards,

CISS Leadership Team.
